Not many words are needed here. I would just like to paraphrase the old saying: 'Why does the devil always have the best tunes?' and ask, 'How come the bishops always have the best palaces?' and, perhaps, 'Why does the church hoard so many treasures?' Anyway, apart from my rebellious nature, I did enjoy walking back in time the other day in Lima's museums of religious art. Walk with me first through Lima Cathedral and then the adjacent Palace of the Lima bishops. We start in 1535.
Most of the art was created by native Peruvians, not the Spanish, and they often didn't have any formal and/or informal training.
